Fiona exhibits, has work in private collections and takes commissions including book covers and film posters.
Outside of her own practice, she co-runs Balcony Art & Design Studio, is a digital media tutor, privately and at Hampstead School of Art, and provides workshops for children locally.
Working in mixed media, she is fascinated with how the materials combine and react, and how through layering and removal, traces of process are evident in her work.
Often working from life, she seeks to represent more than just the appearance of the subject. What is hidden or absent is often just as important as what is revealed, creating ambiguity and intrigue. She chooses to leave out features or erase them entirely to aid the balance of the composition and to provoke the viewer to search deeper.
